Our matrix leadership structure enhances our ability to collaborate across industry, client segment, and geographies.  | Alan Garner, President and Chief Executive Officer Since joining Marsh in 1988, Alan has been responsible for the development and servicing of Professional Liability programs for associations seeking self-insurance status, and Multinational programs for clients of various industry groups, including substantial Aviation Manufacturers Products and Airline placements. Alan has taken a leadership position in the advancement of Enterprise Risk Management and Alternative Risk Financing solutions within Marsh Canada Limited. He held the position of Head of our Eastern Region before being appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2002. In January of 2004 Alan became President and Chief Executive Officer. Alan has spent most of his working career in Montreal. After graduating from Sir George Williams University, he joined J. H. Minet in 1978, brokering U.S. Fortune 100 clients. |  | Peter Cleyn, Vice Chairman Peter began his insurance career in 1975 with Marsh and McLennan Montreal after completing a Bachelor of Business Administration at the University of Montreal (Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales). Following seven years with Marsh in various capacities of client service and brokerage activities, Peter joined Alcan Aluminum Limited as the Global Risk Manager. His responsibilities included the oversight of Alcan's global insurance arrangements, extensive involvement in the management of a number of Owner Controlled Construction Insurance Programs, as well as the active management of an integrated self insurance program. In 1987 Peter relocated to Toronto with Dale Parizeau, the largest Canadian owned insurance broker, to manage their Toronto based operations. In 1991 he moved to Johnson and Higgins to lead their Risk Management Practice. Marsh and McLennan merged with Johnson and Higgins in 1997 and since that time Peter has assumed various assignments of Client Management and operational leadership focusing on High Technology as well as a global client base. In 2001 Peter relocated to Calgary to assume the operational responsibility of Marsh Canada's Western operations in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. In 2005 Peter was appointed Vice Chairman and assumed National responsibility for client development. Peter obtained his Masters of Business Administration from Concordia University in Montreal. |  | Jim Abernethy, Chief Operating Officer The Business Services Support Group is responsible for all aspects of financial management, professional and support services and corporate administration and compliance as well as Technology and Corporate Marketing and Communications. Financial Management encompasses the Controllership and Treasury functions, including financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, safeguarding corporate assets and internal controls, investment and working capital management and banking arrangements. Professional Services is responsible for setting strategy and providing business support in the areas of insurance market administration, premises management, procurement, corporate policy and compliance and acquisitions/divestitures. Corporate Administration and Compliance is responsible for all aspects of taxation and insurance regulatory compliance as well as corporate secretarial and legal services and statutory filings. |  | Michael McLaughlin, Client Executive and Industry Specialty Practices - Canada Michael is a Managing Director of Marsh Canada Limited. In 2004 he was appointed the Canadian Leader of both our Client Executive and Industry Specialty Practices. Since joining Marsh in 1990, Michael has been responsible for the development and servicing of numerous corporate clients, domestically and internationally. In addition he has been instrumental in driving a number of corporate initiatives for the Company. Prior to his current role, Michael was responsible for Risk Management Practices in Central Canada. Michael is a graduate of the University of Toronto (B.A., Economics) (1978), is an Associate in Risk Management, Insurance Institute of America (1983) and an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada (1984). |  | Gail St. Germain, Human Resources The major strength of Marsh Canada Limited is the quality and conscientiousness of our professionals who serve our clients. The key mandate is to develop a national Human Resources presence within the Canadian operations. The HR service delivery model is consistent with the Canadian business model of national direction and regional implementation. Leadership addresses talent management and organizational development including the intake, development and retention of people. This includes translating business goals and objectives to people strategies, coaching the leadership group and the prioritization of initiatives with the Canadian Executive Committee and Marsh Inc. | |
